How We Work - The Process of a Website
The Interview
We'll ask the right questions to uncover the truth about why you need a new website and exactly what it is you're trying to achieve. Some of these questions will likely make you think of things you haven't considered yet. In fact, if the questions are a little tough to answer, then chances are we haven't done our job.
The Checklist
We need to make sure we have everything we need to begin the project. This means information about web hosting, domain names, social media accounts, logos, content, etc. Don't worry, we will give you a list of everything you need to provide.
The Sitemap
Once we have all the information we need, we'll build a visual sitemap so we can all get on the same page very quickly about what it is we're trying to communicate and the best way to structure the information. Here is an example of a sitemap.
The Prototype
Now instead of trying to tell you what we intend to build and hoping you understand our jargon, at this point we'll create a design mockup or a comp in Photoshop that will give a visual representation of the idea we have for your website. You will see a desktop, tablet, and phone version of the same design. You can view an example here mock-up here.
The Final Design
Once you have signed off on the design mock-up we will build a browser version of the website. You will see a working home page and one inside page. This way you can see what it will really look like and behave in real life. This is your last chance to make any design tweaks.
The Delivery
Finally, we go to work for a couple of weeks and make sure everything is plugged in and tested before we move it to your quality hosting server.
The Training
It is important that you take the time to learn how to manage your own website. In addition to the Video User Manual and the Written User Manual we will provide one hour of guided training via an online conference. We'll hold your hand for the first 30 days.
The Post Launch
Now that you have your shiny new website and you have learned how to update and manage the content it is important that your website remain healthy and safe for your users. Check out my Website Care Plans here.
